Info and Prices
1. Showing face - $35
This book is the culmination of a collaborative project between myself, the Attic Youth Center, and the residents John C. Anderson Apartments funded by the City of Philadelphia Mural Art Program. The book is hand bound using a Japanese stab binding technique, and contains four small booklets that focus on particular aspects of the the Philadelphia LGBT experience across generations. It is a limited edition of less than 90 books.
2. Postcard (Red Door) - $3
3. Willing - $10
Willing is about vulnerability and strength and how the two are inextricably paired. Drawings of figures are paired with segments of a haiku that both work to illustrate both visually and conceptually ways in which we simultaneously guard and expose, defend and submit to forces beyond ourselves. That we show vulnerability in our power, and that there is power in our vulnerabilities.
4. Postcard (Southern Exposure Promo) - Free
5. Southern Exposure Issue 1: Confederati - $20
Issue 1 of SOUTHERN EXPOSURE focuses on the confederate flag a both an aesthetic object, despite being a carrier of a fraught legacy. As a southerner, and a black man, the symbol of the Confederate Battle Flag carries competing narratives. I find myself drawn to its aesthetic power, and sickened by what it represents.
This issue is meant to serve as a snapshot of a body of work, exploring the sometimes complicit and often resistant relationship I have with this symbol; and somehow be more at peace with where I am from in the process.
6. White -$10
White is a zine focusing on whiteness as a aesthetic and toys with the various notions of how "white" manifests itself in western culture. It is the oldest zine still available of whats present for the Philadelphia Art Book Fair.
7. Southern Exposure Issue 2: White K/Night - $20
Issue 2 of SOUTHERN EXPOSURE extends from where the White zine left off. The figures are uneasy placeholders, their coverings removing individuality, leaving only skin and form. It puts into question the agency of an anonymized figure, and brings forwards how the institutionalized identity does a lot of heavy lifting.
8. Southern Exposure Issue 3: Red Light - $20
The rich hue of Cadmium Red when spread thickly across a surface. The vivid flash of red of a warning light. The alluring glow of the red light district in Amsterdam. Issue 3 of Southern Exposure focuses on my personal love for the color red. Playing with its visual connotations we all have with the color.
